The plain definition

What is a dummy ticket?

A dummy ticket, also sold as a dummy air ticket or a dummy airline ticket, looks like a regular airline ticket and has a valid PNR, also called a booking code or booking reference. A PNR is a six-character alphanumeric code issued by the airline. It can be verified on the airline’s website, and on ViewTrip or CheckMyTrip, under “Manage my booking” or “My trips”.

A dummy ticket is also known as a dummy flight reservation, a dummy flight booking or a dummy flight itinerary. It is unpaid, so it costs a fraction of the fare, and it cannot be used to board a flight.

Buy the real ticket once the visa is approved. Several consulates say so on their own checklists.

When you need a dummy ticket

  • Visa applications

Schengen, UK, US, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, Korean and GCC checklists all ask for a flight reservation rather than a paid ticket.

  • Proof of onward travel

Airlines are fined for carrying passengers who are refused entry, so check-in staff ask one-way travellers for a return sector.

  • Immigration on arrival

Officers in Thailand, Malaysia and much of the Schengen area ask to see how and when you intend to leave.

  • Passport and exit-visa files

Some employers and authorities want a travel plan on file before releasing a passport or approving an exit visa.

  • Leave approval at work

HR teams often ask for itinerary dates before signing off annual leave, months before you want to commit to a fare.

  • Car hire and insurance

Rental desks and travel insurers sometimes ask for arrival details when the booking is made from abroad.

Three steps

How it works

Dummy ticket booking online, end to end: the form, one WhatsApp conversation and a PDF. Most tickets are delivered the same day.

  1. 01

    Tell us the trip

Route, dates, passenger names as printed in the passport and which embassy you are applying to. It takes about two minutes and asks for no payment details.

  2. 02

    We confirm and you pay

We check the itinerary on WhatsApp or email, then send bank transfer details or a card link. Nothing is charged until you have seen the itinerary.

  3. 03

    Your PDF arrives

The reservation lands in your inbox and on WhatsApp with the booking reference. Look it up on the airline site before you submit.

Pricing

How to check your PNR

Check any dummy ticket with PNR yourself before you submit. It takes a minute, and it is the same lookup a consular officer would run.

Live in the airline system, not an edited PDF.

  1. 01

    Open “Manage my booking”

Every airline has this page, usually in the top navigation. CheckMyTrip and ViewTrip work for most reservations as well.

  2. 02

    Enter the six-character reference

Type the PNR printed on the PDF together with the surname exactly as it appears on the reservation.

  3. 03

    Read the itinerary back

Flight numbers, dates and passenger names should match the PDF. If anything differs, message us and we will reissue.

FAQ

Questions travellers ask us

Short answers to what people ask before ordering. The full list covers payment, changes and refusals.

A dummy ticket looks like a regular airline ticket and carries a valid PNR, also called a booking code or booking reference. A PNR is a six-character alphanumeric code issued by the airline. You can check it on the airline website under “Manage my booking” or “My trips”, and on ViewTrip or CheckMyTrip. A dummy ticket is also known as a flight reservation or an itinerary.

It is a real reservation held in the airline system, not an image or an edited PDF. That is the whole point of the service. The reservation is not paid for, so it is a hold rather than a flown ticket, which is why it costs a fraction of the fare.

Travellers use flight reservations for Schengen, UK, US, Canadian, Australian, Japanese, Korean, Indian and GCC applications every day. What matters to the officer is that the itinerary is consistent with the rest of your file and that the booking reference resolves on the airline website. Match the dates on the ticket to the dates on your cover letter, hotel booking and leave letter, and check the PNR yourself before you submit.

Most tickets are delivered within one to six hours during support hours, which are 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM Sri Lanka time, seven days a week. If your appointment is today, tell us on WhatsApp and we will prioritise it. Urgent delivery under one hour is available for LKR 1,000 extra.

Most airline holds last between 48 hours and 14 days depending on the airline and the route. We set the hold so that it is live on your submission date, and we tell you the exact expiry when we send the PDF. If your appointment moves, message us and we will reissue.

Yes, and we would rather you checked it before they do. Every dummy ticket with PNR we issue is a live reservation in the airline’s own system, so the six-character code resolves on the airline website under “Manage my booking” or “My trips”, and on CheckMyTrip or ViewTrip for most GDS bookings. Enter the code together with the surname exactly as it is printed on the reservation. What the officer sees is your name, your flight numbers and your dates, plus the fact that the booking is unpaid, which is precisely what a reservation is meant to be. If the code ever fails to resolve, message us and we will reissue it.
